Though on a personal note I may not agree with the philosophy of the author entirely, I must confess that the book is exceptionally well written. Short, pacy, simple language, message conveyed clearly - a book that even dummies could read. Story:
Prince Hamlet comes to know from the Ghost of his father, that he was murdered by his brother Claudius. Claudius has married Gertrude, the queen of the slain king. She is totally unaware of Claudius' wile and acts. Upon this enlightenment Hamlet vows to avenge the murder.

On the other hand, Lord Polonius, the father of Ophelia, Hamlet's love interest, is making efforts to ensure that the two don't come together.

Hamlet puts together a play depicting the unfortunate acts with the hope of hitting the conscience of Queen Gertrude and King Claudius and confirming that what he saw was indeed reality and not a hallucination.

On another front, Fortinbras, the Nephew of Norway is ready to attack the Dane kingdom.
